Jason Paul - Germany
Hey! I'm Jason and was born in Germany, I wear Lederhosen, drink beer for breakfast and design cars for a living. Actually, none of the above, but don't question my german-ness!
How did you get into Freerunning and did you do any other sports before that?
Up until 14 I tried all kinds of sports, from fencing over football to capoeira. None of them truly excited me or lasted longer than a week and that showed, I was the most average athlete.
I really was looking for something those sports couldn’t give me, so I turned to computer games where I spent most of my day in front of the screen playing Prince of Persia.
Seeing a video of grown-ups jumping around Paris in a weird way gave me permission to do the same.
What does your life look like?
At the moment I’m officially a homeless person. I’m constantly traveling and never spend more than a few months in the same country. I canceled my apartment, threw everything away that didn't fit into my suitcase and have been on the road since.
Usually I spend the beginning of the year in the USA, summer is best in Europe and when it gets too cold I head to Asia for winter, but most years I’ll be bouncing around in between as the video-ideas or work pops up.
Work means anything from shooting a Freerunning-Video, judging a competition or designing our Farang Clothing Line.
What does Freerunning mean to you and why does it excite you?
Such a hard question, because it’s kind of everything. I think above all it’s taught me a million things about life and gave me some amazing friends and adventures. That’s also why it will always be exciting.
How did you join Team Farang?
My first trip to Bangkok was back in 2010. Back then Anan's apartment would turn int a mad-house every July. Up to 20 people would crash his place and just live a crazy life full of freerunning, travel, exploring and party for a month.
Naturally that attracted me and even though I never met Anan, I made my way to Thailand, introduced myself to him at his doorstep and he let me stay with him. Since then they haven’t been able to get rid of me.

Favorite Food?
Ice-Cream!
Biggest obsession outside of Freerunning?
Books and Photography. Favourite books of all time would be Gary Jennings - The Journeyer, Dale Carnegie - Meet friends and influence people and Robert Greene's Mastery.
You could swap lives with somebody for a day, who and why?
I would definitely wanna be a hot girl! I would touch my boobs all day and find out what female orgasms feel like. If it ever happens, I just really hope I’m not on my period.
Where will you be when you’re 50?
Shooting photos of naked girls for Vogue or something like that. Helmut Newton Style. To be honest I don't really know and I think it's better that way.
What are your favorite Freerunning shoes?
I swap around all the time, but usually go for a flatter sole than most people like. Style definitely counts as well.
Some good ones I would recommend are Supra Owen Mid’s, Adidas Essential Star 2.0 and Puma Future R689.
What’s your vision for freerunning’s future?
A community of creative badasses spread out all across the world and I get to crash at everybody’s place, then they show me their city and take me on random adventures.
What does your playlist look like?
Frank Sinatra, Drake, Ludovico Einaudi, Childish Gambino, J Cole, Jay-Z and for german rap it’s Kool Savas, Fler and Bushido. I also love checking out different Soundtracks! Samurai Champloo, Cowboy Bebop and the Tarantino Movies are some of my favorites!

Hi. I love your work with team Farang. I have recently started my own freerunning team called “Team Lsiata” We are only amateurs but we are learning moves and I do do some pretty big jumps time to time. I would love to do a collaboration or just go to one of your jams. Please come to New Zealand. Explore the city here and go to flow academy. Then give us a review on flow because it is the only parkour gym we have here in NZ and we would really like it to be the best it can be. I really look up to you and you are a major inspiration in my life. Keep up the good work man. :)
